What is a Mandala?A mandala is a symbolic diagram, usually round with radial symmetry. They often refer to the cyclic nature of life, fate, time, or the seasons. Mandalas may be viewed as maps of the cosmos, or of the realm of deities. As such, they are intended for use as a religious exercise. Contemplation of the mandala was thought to lead to mystical insight. Seen thus, they guide the person from the outer circle, via doors and pathways, to a sacred inner space. Each of my mandalas is an original design drawn from my photographs and fractal art. Often they are composites of these. The PrintsThe mandalas were printed with an Epson Stylus Photo 2100 which produces long lasting, light-fast prints for professional re-sale and gallery display. They have a high resistance to fading and are rated at 62 years light fastness before they will start to age, much in the manner of traditional prints and watercolours. |
